FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

44th Annual IPT Bull Sale to Lead Off 2012 Illinois Beef Expo

The 44th Annual Illinois Performance Tested Bull Sale will be the lead off event of the 2012 Illinois Beef Expo. The sale is scheduled for 11 am on Thursday, February 23 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds Livestock Center in Springfield.

There are 100 elite performance tested bulls consigned with 18 being long aged 2010 bulls ready for heavy use and 82 December through March yearling bulls. The breakdown of cataloged bulls includes 65 Angus, 29 Simmentals, 4 Polled Herefords, and 2 Red Angus.

Bulls selling in the sale meet some of the most stringent requirements found in the United States. This is verified by only 412 or approximately two-thirds of the 624 bulls nominated during the past five years making it into the sale. Bulls are screened at nomination, for cataloging and during the processing for the sale.

The sale continues to be a leader in the emphasis on performance and carcass traits through the use of EPDs (Expected Progeny Differences). The 2012 sale index will place equal emphasis on EPDs for birth weight, weaning weight, yearling weight, maternal milk, marbling and ribeye area.

The sale catalog can be obtained by contacting Dave Seibert, IPT Bull Sale Manager at (309) 339-3694 or by sending a request to 300 North St., Washington, IL 61571. Request for catalogs can also be made via email - seibertd@comcast.net

The sale catalog is also available on the web at http://www.IPTBullSale.com. The web based catalog contains all the performance, carcass and pedigree information on each bull cataloged. The web catalog will be complete except for presale measurements such as frame score, pelvic measurement, scrotal circumference and sale day weight.
